Vehicles
Vehicles are fitted with the following adaptations:
• Four point wheelchair securing system to ensure that the wheelchair is carried securely
• Lightweight ramp to enable wheelchair user to transfer to the car without leaving their wheelchair
• Full lap and diagonal passenger seatbelt for wheelchair user(s)
• Lowered vehicle floor for extra headroom and easier access
• Passenger lift

• Bristol Car Club is operated by Bristol Community Transport, a not-for-profit social enterprise with a 25 year track record of meeting the transport needs of disabled people which is of the HCT Group.


Free Training
Drivers will be shown how to use the passenger lift, wheelchair fixings and seatbelts for wheelchair users to help ensure the safe and comfortable carriage of passengers.


Additional Equipment
Vehicles all carry a first aid kit and warning triangle.
The vehicles are fitted with satellite navigation equipment (please ask if you'd like SatNav for your hire).
Baby seats, child seats and child booster seats are also available.


Breakdown Cover
Each vehicle is covered by comprehensive breakdown cover, including the facility to return passengers (including wheelchair users). Full details are in the vehicle, and available on request.


Electric Scooter
Working with our colleagues at Bristol Shopmobility we can also make electric scooters available for hire. This provides maximum flexibility; use the car for transporting a wheelchair user to the destination and then use an electric scooter to get around once there.


Who can hire a car?
The fleet has been designed to carry wheelchair users, but it is not obligatory to use the vehicle for carrying wheelchair users.
Hirers need to be members of Bristol Car Club, and membership is available to individuals as well as for not-for-profit and other organisations.


Free Membership
There is no charge for joining Bristol Car Club.
